This area of my site is the home of my personal pages. These pages range over an eclectic set of topics that are of interest to me (and maybe of interest to you!).
My fabulous mother raised her kids to be well-rounded. We did all sorts of things during our childhood, like taking music lessons, entering arts & crafts contests, taking ice skating and horseback riding lessons. She even entered me into a beauty contest once *laughs*. We took fencing, went camping, visited all the museums in D.C. and painted on our back patio. I took ballet lessons and was chosen to study at a prestigious school, but decided I didn’t want the life of a dancer. All of us were also in Scouts (she was a Den Mother).
I was chosen to go to Maryland Girl’s State. I applied and was accepted as the teen rep member of the Advisory Planning Committee in New Carrollton, MD. My mom even sent me alone on a train up to NYC to participate in an American Youth Hostel trip when I was 13 (10 days of canoeing and horseback riding). We once made our own Christmas wrapping paper with potatoes as cut-out stamps. We grew up on classical music, classic movies (to this day I still love musicals!), and classic books.
All sorts of things like this that really contributed to who I am today and where my interests lie–the ability to keep an open mind, to explore new things, travel down untrodden roads, keep alive the curiosity and wonder of the child. There’s always an opportunity to learn something new, to add to your life experiences.
